Two new Togouchi Japanese whiskies for the season…
The month of September 2023 will be rich in news for the Togouchi range of Japanese whiskies. Indeed, two new references will be added to the already wide range of blended whiskies. Entirely distilled in Japan, in the stills of the Sakurao distillery, these two new products have also aged in the heart of an old railway tunnel. Faithful to the refined, pure and elegant identity of the Togouchi brand, these two new products will be available on the wineshop channel only from September.
The first one is the Togouchi Peated. Made of a blend of 20% peated malt whisky and 80% grain whisky made from unmalted barley, this expression takes the distillery to a new level in terms of peat usage. Indeed, after launching in 2021 a first “Peated Cask Finish” reference, only matured in barrels that have contained peated whisky, it now invites you to taste a 100% Japanese whisky made from peated malted barley! Its elegant and fruity profile blends beautifully with the smoky and deep notes of peat.
The second one is an edition exclusively bottled for the wineshop chain V&B. This Togouchi DOUBLE CASK edition, has been aged in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, giving notes of black grape, blood orange and caramel. With a beautiful roundness on the palate, this new whisky is packaged in an explosive and resolutely modern design that contrasts with the usually sober identity of the Japanese brand. A new demonstration of Sakurao’s ability to reinvent itself by mixing tradition and modernity !
